1-Sentence Summary

A set of genetically enhanced twins grow up separate from each other: one twin supports his foster father in a quest to develop and spread a new virus that will decimate the overaging population, while the other twin finally escapes the clutches of an American pharma giant to reunite with his childhood friends - only to find out he's got an "evil" twin that needs to be stopped.

Reflections

I actually really enjoyed this series - probably more so than Yoshida's other work, Banana Fish. There is a certain similarity between YASHA and the latter half of Banana Fish, not just concering the characters, but also some of the plot points.
The main conflicts of the series (overaging population, government corruption and genetic enhancement) are probably even more relevant today than back when the series was first published. As for the (personal) conflict of the protagonist and his twin, while interesting, it was a bit over-dramatized and I did find myself often at odds with the protagonist's mindset.
Overall it's a nice science-fiction thriller with some (!) lovable characters.
